With Phase 2 set to conclude with next year's Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, Marvel have confirmed the line-up for the upcoming Phase 3 of the MCU.
  • Captain America: Civil War (thirteenth instalment and third Captain America instalment; set for a May 6, 2016 release): Fan speculations from the past few weeks have been confirmed as the next Captain America will be based on the 2006 "Civil War" storyline.

  • Doctor Strange (fourteenth instalment; set for a November 4, 2016 release): Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play the character in the Scott Derrickson-directed film.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (fifteenth instalment and second Guardians of the Galaxy instalment; set for a May 5, 2017 release): Already confirmed.

  • Thor: Ragnarok (sixteenth instalment and third Thor instalment; set for a July 28, 2017 release): Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston will reprise their roles as Thor and Loki, respectively. Let's hope this film is a major improvement from The Dark World.

  • Black Panther (seventeenth instalment; set for a November 3, 2017 release): Chadwick Boseman has been confirmed to play the titular character and it is the first MCU film to have a main black protagonist (fourth overall for Marvel, since the other three were Blade).

  • Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 (eighteenth instalment and third Avengers instalment; set for a May 4, 2018 release): It's likely to be based on the "Infinity Gauntlet" story arc.

  • Captain Marvel (nineenth instalment; set for a July 6, 2018 release): First MCU film to have a main female protagonist (second overall for Marvel, since the first was Elektra).

  • Inhumans (twentieth instalment; set for a November 8, 2018 release): Another team-centric MCU film and first since Guardians of the Galaxy.
  • Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 (twenty-first instalment and fourth Avengers instalment; set for a May 3, 2019 release): Second part to Infinity War.
I'm happy about this, but I'm still frustrated that they haven't yet confirmed the development to a sequel to The Incredible Hulk, which would star Mark Ruffalo, a Hawkeye solo film and a Black Widow solo film. For possible Netflix shows in Phase 3, I think it could contain Runaways, Tigra, Young Avengers, Namor the Sub-Mariner and if Marvel finally gets the film rights back, maybe Spider-Man and Fantastic Four.

Unlike Phase 1 and 2, both containing six films, this phase contains nine films. That's right! NINE FILMS!
