Since there's hasn't been any new episodes of the popular Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood since 2011, I've decided to a "what could have been" idea to a continuation of Torchwood post-Miracle Day. The closest thing was the 2012 novel Exodus Code.

Here's my synopsis:
After defeating Oswald Danes, Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and his Torchwood team begin to
The show continues where "The Blood Line" left off, with the Three Families becoming the main antagonists of the first three episodes

Here's the main cast:
  • John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness
  • Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper
  • Kai Owen as Rhys Williams
  • Billie Piper as Rose Tyler: It would have been nice if Rose did join Torchwood after her most recent appearance in Doctor Who (which was NOT "The Day of the Doctor" as it was the Moment using a hologram of Rose, but it was "Journey's End").
  • Mekhi Phifer as Rex Matheson
  • Alexa Havins as Esther Drummond: After her apparent death in "The Blood Line", it's revealed that she was revived and a dummy was put in her coffin for her "funeral" in order to trick the Three Families.
Episodes: Like most British shows, which each season have shorter than the average American season (20+ episodes), this series has 17 episodes (16 episodes and a Christmas special) and like Series 7 of Doctor Who, it is split into two parts. Not only that, the fifth series concludes the series. Each four episodes (except the Christmas special) follow a story arc, hence it is in a serialised form: four serials and one Christmas special. The first serial is: "The Fate of the Three Families", the second serial is: "Wrath of Time", the third serial is: "Parallel Worlds" and the fourth and final serial is: "Endgame". The final serial will bring back deceased characters Ianto Jones, Toshiko Sato and Owen Harper in order to realise that Torchwood is at the end. The Twelfth Doctor will make an appearance in the third serial with Harkness realising that he resembles John Frobisher (villain of Children of Earth), which according to Steven Moffat that he will explain how the Twelfth Doctor resembles both Frobisher and the Emperor in the Doctor Who episode "The Fires of Pompeii" in the forthcoming eighth series.
